Professional Development

Canadian Geographic Education offers teachers a variety of opportunities to engage in geographic professional development activities in order to make an even greater impact in your classroom, school, district, and/or community.

These opportunities include:

Arnold Awards: This subsidy is given to assist in the participation of geographic professional development in the current school year.

Project Atmosphere: The Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society invites you to apply for a two-week summer workshop on meteorology specifically designed for teachers and run by the American Meteorological Society.

Canadian Geographic magazine is an excellent resource for teachers and students. It provides posters in both official languages, such as the St. Lawrence Seaway map, as well as short geography related news items suitable for current events. In addition, the June issue each year is devoted to environmental issues such as wind energy.”
