Energy Diet Challenge

Classroom Energy Diet Challenge

More than 12,000 students across Canada are competing in teams to become Canada’s most energy-efficient classroom in the Classroom Energy Diet Challenge. Over an eight-week period, participating students will complete energy-themed, curriculum-linked challenges designed to
increase their awareness and understanding of energy use. Students participating in the challenge, which is sponsored by Canadian Geographic Enterprises and Shell Canada Limited, are encouraged to be creative in completing each assignment, from building an anemometer to measure the force and speed of wind to producing a 60-second video to encourage Canadians to reduce their energy consumption. Classrooms at both the elementary and the secondary levels are awarded points for each completed task and become eligible to win great prizes, such as a Smart Board interactive white board. See how the classrooms compete at www.canadiangeographic.ca/cedc.
