About Canadian Geographic Education

Canadian Geographic Education is a joint initiative of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society and the National Geographic Society of Washington, D.C. established in 1993.

The programs of Canadian Geographic Education aim to strengthen geographic education in the classroom. In addition to increasing the emphasis on geography within the school system, Canadian Geographic Education endeavours to increase the public awareness of the importance of geographical literacy.

Can Geo Education is governed by a national Executive comprised of geographic educators from elementary, secondary, college or university levels.

The Executive includes eight Regional Representatives from Can Geo Education membership in their region and representatives of the Canadian Association of Geographers and post secondary education. The eight regions on Can Geo Education Executive are: Atlantic, Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Yukon/Northwest Territories/Nunavut.
